Healthy gums are the foundation of healthy teeth
Bleeding gums or an unusual taste in the mouth are easily overlooked – yet they can be the first signs of periodontitis. We take such signals seriously and work together with you to look after your gum health.
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the tissues that hold your teeth in place.
It affects more than just the visible gums. As it progresses, the fibres and bone that anchor the tooth in the jaw can be lost.
Left untreated, advanced periodontitis can therefore contribute to teeth becoming loose and ultimately being lost.
How does periodontitis develop?
Bacterial plaque accumulates particularly where the tooth meets the gum.
If the body responds with persistent inflammation, gum pockets can develop. As the disease progresses, the supporting structures of the tooth can be damaged.
Alongside the biofilm, individual risk factors also play a role.
Periodontitis often causes no pain for a long time
That is exactly what makes the disease so insidious.
Possible warning signs include bleeding gums, bad breath, receding gums or loose teeth. In the early stages, however, those affected often notice very little.
The treatment
First, we assess the situation systematically. This includes examining the gums and measuring the depth of the gum pockets.
Where periodontitis is present, bacterial plaque and deposits are reduced, particularly on the root surfaces and in the pockets.
Aftercare makes all the difference
Periodontitis is not a disease where a single treatment automatically means everything is “sorted” for good.
Long-term stabilisation through regular check-ups and supportive periodontal therapy is a central part of the treatment concept.
Our aim is not only to treat the inflammation – but to maintain stable, healthy conditions for as long as possible.
