Night Guards in Darmstadt

Protection for your teeth. Relief for your chewing system.

Back to overview

Many patients only discover with us that they clench or grind their teeth at night. We explain what this means for your teeth and how a night guard can protect them effectively.

Many people clench or grind their teeth without being aware of it – especially during sleep.

This can generate considerable forces.

Over time, this may lead to wear, small cracks in the enamel, sensitive teeth or damage to existing restorations. Some patients also report tense chewing muscles or discomfort around the jaw joints.

What does a night guard do?

A custom-made occlusal splint creates defined contact between the upper and lower jaw and protects the tooth surfaces from grinding directly against each other.

It can also form part of a treatment concept for functional complaints.

Not every splint is the same

Depending on the findings, the material, design and therapeutic goal of a splint can differ.

That is why treatment begins with an examination of your chewing system.

If you have symptoms, we can examine not only your teeth and bite but also your chewing muscles and jaw joints.

Does a night guard cure bruxism?

A night guard does not necessarily remove the cause of nighttime clenching or grinding.

Its important role is often to protect teeth and restorations from the consequences of these high forces and to support the chewing system therapeutically.
